I am wondering if anyone has any tips for running sessions as a DM, and to start I will list a few of my own.

The following tips I have found can help me keep my players engaged in the game, especially useful on late night or long sessions where they are tired.

1. Know your players
Watch what bits of a quest your players respond to and design the quests for the different things they enjoy.

2. Hide your dice
Keep your dice rolls private, this allows you to describe the event instead of the players simply seeing the dice roll and knowing the outcome. This also helps keep the players engaged while it is not their turn.

3. Easy & fast maps
Using plastic acetate and white board markers over a printed grid for the quest area is a fast and easy way to design maps and also to draw any changes you need to 'on the fly'.

So theres a few of mine, it would be great to hear if anyone else has any tips. The more the better.
